Trophy

2007.08.19

“The road to success is always under construction” ~Lily Tomlin

I used to think that I would know I was a success because of some sort of recognition. There would be trumpets and banners and trophy with a plaque that said "Congratulations Lisa, you have made it". Or a Blue Ribbon. Or an A. Or 5 stars. A medal would be nice. Something that said I had won.

I guess it doesn't work that way, huh?

Maybe success is a moving target. And sometimes that trophy you get from one success, has to be turned over and used as a step for another one. Because what good is a trophy if it just sits there and gathers dust?

And that failure's no success at all."

It is definitely an illusive target - love photo #1.

garysktam I love the words... so inspiring. A stone trophy.. too heavy for me hehe
garysktam · 2007-08-19: 08:53
chipotle it arbitrarily works that way, which can make it frustrating when the arbitrary spinner points away from you. i always admire people who perform at a five-star level, are not truly recognized for that, and have the self-confidence to not care; i think that inner-assurance permits them to sidestep many of life's frustration and to further their own dreams.

i'm really enjoying the ponder in your recent posts. they rise to the level of your photographs, which is formidable indeed.

OC110481 Really great words:) I think it is all about our happiness too, sometime some success in other people way, it is not the same with what could make us feel like really success.

harryOB Beautiful post - the shots are wonderful, but I really enjoyed the commentary the most. It reminds us also to enjoy the journey and not just the end and final reward.
