Train of Thought

2007.09.20

These are also from the Fair. There is a railroad museum at the fairgrounds (1-4) and also a whole area of miniature trains (5&6). These are a few of the shots.

I took the train into Los Angeles the other day. The commuter train doesn't have nearly as much character as these old trains. And the views are nowhere near as beautiful as they must have been before the area was built up. But I still get a kick out of riding it. And it's much less stressful to take the train than to drive into LA. Kind of relaxing, really.

photopoet I like the sepia colouring of the first three photos. My favorite is the third photo—let's the mind wander and invent stories. I sometimes take the train into Boston because it beats dealing with the traffic and parking spots.

kangshung Yes, trains are great and very relaxing. The sepia in the first 3 is delightful.

Carley You're right...about the character of the old trains (and the luggage too!)...and the relative ease of travel. These shots are wonderful!

Jannie Lisa these are just wonderful. I love your color treatments. There was a wagon almost identical to your 3rd shot in Portola when Patty & I went there last month. I did a double take thinking you had gone there! Awesome series!

chipotle i rode amtrack from denver to LA years ago. we arrived in las vegas at daybreak. the ringling bros. train was in the station and all of the animals were being unloaded. it was sort of surreal but it was sort of magical.

i like trains.
