Last Saturday, soccer started for Mondi's children. If you'll remember, Mondi is my friend and family and I am an Aunty to her children, Brandon & Britni. I went to see their games and tried my hand at Soccer shots for the first time.
Britni's game was a little easier to shoot because the players were younger and the field was smaller. I was able to get some close up shots with the 70-300. By the way, Brit did great but her team lost.
The thing that I've learned about sports shots is that it's all about timing. I have some great shots of the kids kicking but since the soccer ball is no where around, it looks like they are dancing. :) No matter what sport it is, you have to find the moments that make the sport special and anticipate them. It's fun figuring out how to do that. I'm going to have to try again when the light is less harsh. And get a little bit faster too. :)
Great job for your first go at it. You're right, it is all about timing. I coached soccer for several years while my daughter's played, which made it even more difficult. I was constantly wanting to photograph them, but I had to be the responsible coach.
Too cool!!! I did sport shot of my nephews las weekend and boy are you right until the kids get older there will be more action and less dancing !!! Great post Lisa you are a splendid sports snapper for sure!!!
