SDSR - Bike Chic - Theme

Jerseys on parade. Or the train as I like to call it. :)

I was trying to capture details with these two shots. But you can see their footwear in them.

Really, I was just trying to practice panning. You believe me, right?

One of my favorite shots as they were lining up to start the crit. I love his smile.

I loved the confidence in this one. These jerseys let everyone know who the KOM, Sprint, and Race leaders are.

Wonder what kind of "fish" tales he's telling?

Getting their game face on as they wait to start.

Showing their school colors. This one is for my sister who is a Bruin.

Only a little nervous. I'm told I look scared witless before a race. :P

Girl power! They also had kid races on Sunday which were a blast to watch but really hard to photograph because of all the parents yelling strategy!

Future star!

Check out his Bert & Ernie helmet. :)

Flowers add speed! :)

I bet we see him in a yellow jersey some day. :) He even has a bottle cage for those long rides!

What the pro photographer wears to a bike race.

Well, okay. It's time for another confession. I like bike boys. Some people think they look funny with the shorts and the helmets. But, I, um...appreciate the look. ;) And like Patty mentioned yesterday, there's the whole leg thing. ;)

Anywho, the "look" IS an important part of the cycling world. The jerseys, helmets, gloves, etc. all help define a rider or a team. They help you "find" your cyclist in the pack. Help you stand out from the crowd or give you a cohesiveness with your mates. And like the kids show, your gear can help showcase your personality. There are some awesome jerseys out there if you're a rebel like me and don't wear a team jersey. And a Bert & Ernie helmet doesn't hurt either!

By the way, did you know that by riding a bike you could help raise money for a cause? My first century was with Team in Training about 10 years ago and I helped raise money for the Leukemia Society of America. It was great fun and an experience that I still remember to this day.

My friend, Libor, is doing the Ride2Survive and riding 400km in ONE day to help raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. You can see his blog here. They are trying to raise $150,000 to help fight cancer.

And don't forget to visit bolder's write2fight.com website which is helping raise awareness in the fight against cancer.
