Caturday Conversation

My conversation with my niece on Sunday:

Morgan: “I’m not a kid, I’m a teenager.”

Me: “You can’t be a teenager until you have a “teen” in your age. You’re only 10 ½.”

Morgan: “Well then I’m a pre-teen but I’m not a little kid anymore.”

Me: “Maybe a pre-pre-teen. You’re only 10 ½!”

Morgan: “Hey, is Spike around?”

Me: “I think he’s in the living room.”

Morgan: “Can I talk to him?”

Me: “Sure. Let me go find him.” *walks into the living room and finds Spike snoozing on his blanket* “OK, you’re on speaker phone.”

Morgan: “Hi Spike! Oh, you’re the cutest, greatest, sweetest, most lovable cat ever there was.” (not exactly what she said but you get the gist of it)

*Spike sniffs the phone, twitches his whiskers, and triangulates his ears when he hears her voice*

Morgan: “Okay, I’m done. I bet I won’t get to see him for a LONG time!” (said in her best drama queen voice)

Me: “I think you like talking to him more than me.”

Morgan: “Gotta go, mom’s calling me.”

Does everyone love him more than me? Sheesh! Darn cat…
