Merry Olde England - Part 1

2008.04.27
Drink and be merry. :)

She certainly has their attention!

Queen Elizabeth I

Shakespeare

The Aristocrats - Renaissance Faire style.

If you've never been to a Renaissance Faire, I have to tell you that it is a photographer's dream. There are 3 types of faire goers - The participants, the people who visit the faire in costumes, and the ones who are too timid (or can't afford it) to dress up (like me - someday though!).

The participants have wonderful costumes and stay in character the entire time they are at the faire. They belong to troupes and guilds and each has their own area at the faire. So besides the shows that are going on throughout the day, there are people going about the day to day tasks.

What's most interesting is if they've seen you take their photo, then there is a small exchange where we smile and nod at each other. A thank you from me and an acknowledgement from them. It makes it fun for me. :)

bolder you should go back next year, and give them some prints of the best shots.

kangshung What a wonderful collection of images Lisa - these people do appear to be very much in character, even while eating a meal! The b&w works so well at showing the delightful detail of their costumes.

Carley Beautiful work! I think that #2 is very funny...when you look at the direction all the mens' eyes are taking! I always wonder how the people who dress as aristocrats stand the heat.. The Renaissance Faire is always in summer or very late Spring, and those clothes look like they are HOT!
Carley · 2008-04-28: 20:33
