Merry Olde England - Part 2

2008.04.28
Come one, come all!

A wee lass.

Gathering

All dressed up and someplace to go.

Waiting for battle.

The latest accessories.

Fighting is thirsty business.

Marching

Um, not sure what to say about this one!

A battle between the English and the Celts.

Looking for a wench, I think. ;)

Faire songstress

For Mat...Common goslings enjoying the Faire. :)

The Common Folk of the Faire

If I had my druthers, I'd rather be a common lass than a lady. ;) The costumes for the aristocrats are beautiful, but like Carley said, very hot.

Besides, the commoners seem to have a bit more fun. I mean if you are carrying not one, but TWO tankards for ale, I think you are anticipating a merry olde time, eh? Not to mention the ale flowing freely for the troops on the battlefield. ;)

The last of the Faire for a while, I think. I had great fun "painting pictures" of the Faire (as one lass said). :)

For those of you who've asked how I do my black and white conversions, I'm not going to tell!

No, seriously. I use Tiffen DFX software. I think I've mentioned it before but it has tons of their filter effects that you can apply like a soft focus filter or a green filter, etc.

There are also "print" filters which give the look of certain printing processes. My favorite is Bleach Bypass (which I used on Ruby Slippers before the black & white conversion) and the Old Photo set. The Merry Olde England sets were converted to black and white with the Platinum filter in Old Photo. I then just made small contrast & gamma adjustments to it.

They have a free 15 day trial. It's a stand alone (how I use it) or a plug in for Photoshop & Apple Aperture. This is a list of the filters in the software.

MHJphotos Wahoo! Thanks for the shout out! I'm still awaiting the goslings of LD, but soon my friend ... soon!

These are awesome! #4 and the 'not sure what to say about this one' are hilarious! I love the way you always capture the details.

Great commentary too my friend!

jagungal Ye Olde Englande with a little bit of California too! Love #7 and the goslings are adorable. One day I must ask you about your B7W software — which you have obviously completely mastered! Thanks for another great set Lisa.

Peche Fantastic, colourful and insightful set, Lisa :)
I love the use of black and white, but your shots are just superb - you seem to know the right moment to snap to capture the peak of what is happening, such as the expression on the fighter in #9.
Me being me though, I love the little goslings :D
