Old Flower Scans

2008.06.15
A scan of a full frame 5x7.

A scan of a full frame 5x7

A scan of a full frame 8x12. I did some dodging on this one. Can you tell?

A few more scans of prints that I made in the darkroom. They are about 6 years old.

Flowers. Again. I don't tire of them though. Mother Nature is a diverse, brilliant artist and I love to try to capture even a bit of it.

#3 was taken with backdrop that I made myself. Not being able to afford much, I used foam board that I bought from Michael's an art supply store. Still do. But I wanted one of the mottled, textured backgrounds so I painted one of them. Didn't turn out that well though. ;)

I was luckier than most in that I had a friend who bought and sold used equipment. We worked out a trade where I would help him with his commercial jobs and he would pay me with equipment. After he moved, I didn't have that "income" any more so my collecting came to a halt. Probably for the best or Spike and I wouldn't have any room to move around!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Happy Father's Day to all the photoblogger dads.

photopoet These are quite beautiful. I like the way the light is such an important part of the composition—especially in the second photo.

jagungal These worked really well Lisa. The background in #3 looks like a stormy sky — gives a real surreal effect. First two are just gorgeous.
Great work!
