Pitypang Taraxacum officinale


Egész Európában általánosan elterjedt, fészkes virágzata, közönséges gyomnövény. Réteken, nedvesebb mezőkön, árokpartokon nálunk is mindenütt megtalálható. Az utóbbi években egyre agresszívabban terjed. A 17. századtól már a zöldségnövények között szerepel, a népi gyógyászatban pedig már az ókorban is használták.


Felhasználása

Az egész növényt behálózzák a tejedények és a tejcsövek. Sérülés hatására minden részéből sárgásfehér tejnedv csurog ki, melyben viaszszerű anyagokon kívül kaucsuk is található. Keserűanyaga többek között a salátában is előforduló lactucopikrin és lactucin, amelyeknek mennyisége és egymáshoz viszonyított aránya évszakonként változik. Változó keserűanyag-tartalma virágzás idején a legnagyobb.

A pitypangot már az ókorban is használták a gyógyászatban, ma is gyűjtik ilyen célból levelét és gyökerét. Gyomor- és bélbetegségekben étvágyjavító és emésztést elősegítő. Magas kálium- és savanyú triterpénszaponin-tartalma miatt jó vizelethajtó is.

A népi gyógyászatban igen elterjedt, több étvágyjavító és vizelethajtó teakeverék állandó komponense, emellett máj- és epebetegségeknél is használják. Gyökere megpörkölve feketekávé-pótló. Élelmezési jelentősége a választék bővítésében van. Nyugat-Európa több országában fogyasztják halványítva és halványítás nélkül salátának és főzeléknek.

A népi gyógyászatban több mint 500 különböző néven ismerik, tavasszal a kankalinnal, csalánnal együtt a legelső gyógynövények egyike, amelyekkel megkezdhetjük a szervezet méregtelenítését. Nemcsak nagy (4-5%) káliumtartalmú levele, hanem feldarabolt gyökere is kiváló főzelékalapanyag, például párolva.
