Saturday, in the park

2010.08.28
pixel
This is the start of a sand painting being made by an artist in Washington Square Park. (more of this later)
pixel
The fountain, people splashing, people playing, there's a man selling ice cream
pixel
They waved at me before I shot this.

I can't remember why they were all wearing orange shirts.
pixel
The buildings around the park. Many are part of NYU.
pixel
And some are dream residences.
pixel
Typical NYer
pixel
These guys insisted I take their picture, and then they took mine.
pixel
4th Street fair... spice and tea stand
pixel
Smelled really good but the vendor was too busy on cell phone to talk to customers so no one was buying.
pixel
Dresses full of color and pattern.
pixel
Mini metal army
pixel
Sad looking doggie
pixel
Bags of color
pixel
Wonder how many are actually vintage and how many are just cheap repros
pixel
Hidden oasis
pixel
Ah back in the day
pixel
Bleeker mural. The people I was with just walked past, their journey didn't include browsing.
pixel
After dinner at Cornelia St Cafe we went to Grom for gelato. I had the flavor of the month which is a cinnamon with white chocolate bits and a Baci chocolate.
pixel
A fountain respite
pixel
Alarm box decorated with liberty's torch and falderall
pixel
You can see all the way up to 34th street.
pixel
The park as the sun starts to move evening west.
pixel
I wanted to "initiate" this girls sneakers.
pixel
Remember the first pic?

It's about 4hours later. All in sand. His own mandala.
pixel
You can feel the energy.
pixel
The artist at work.

????? Wow, that's one hell of an afternoon! I like the first dress on the left. And the sand art. The bags remind me of the ones they sell to tourists in Sri Lanka.

Liiisa GROM ! My favorite gelato place -- I've even forgiven them that they don't have walnut anymore. Thanks for bringing a lovely view of NYC (and now I know what your other avatar is! amazing is right.)
