IAD -> SFO -> SYD

Today was one long night. It started Saturday with a mid evening flight from Dulles. Nearly six hours air time to San Francisco, a 2 hour wait, and 14 hours flying to Sydney. I was traveling with the moon, so virtually all of this was at night. I arrived at Sydney at 6:00 am, and with the help of the International Date Line, it was suddenly Monday.

En route I knocked out the book I was reading, The House of Sand and Fog. It was an ok book. I read it because of the reviews and occasional references I had heard. To be completely honest I was disappointed with the last third. I guess I had hoped for a different direction.

After the book it was a crossword. Funny, in high school I wouldn’t touch them. Then when Mom was sick I started doing them in the hospital as we waited. Now I look for them in the airline magazines. It’s interesting how the mind evolves.

I’m open for book suggestions. Please, offer your favorite reads. I need something new and good. something invigorating. Fiction or non-fiction, I'm game.
