I made it home last night to the harsh reality of winter. There was about three inches of snow on my car when I rescued it from the long term parking lot outside the airport. It's quite a shock considering that 24 hours previously I had been driving though the florida night wearing a t-shirt, with the windows down.

Tis the contemplative season. (I never learned any winter sports, and somehow lack the motivation.) I'll hike some. I'll walk the Potomac's coves when they freeze over. But primarily I'll be laying plans for the first big thaw. Come on sunshine....

Today was about work, catching up at the office, and setting the house back in order. On my walk home from groceries I noticed the pond down the street was iced over. I set my load aside and tried opening my eyes. The street lamp made for some nice shadows, but I had some trouble capturing the image I wanted. This is as close as I could get. I'm sure I'll return on another frozen night and try again.
