Ruby-Crowned Kinglet
It took me a while to identify this bird. I have never seen (or noticed) one before. I thought it was a wren of some sort but it is green rather than brown. This must be a female since it doesn't have the red crown on its head. I think I caught sight of her mate earlier though, when I did see a little bird with red on its head in the branches. It was too small to be a woodpecker. Very cool!

Takeoff! I am in awe of those who catch tiny quick birds in flight. Today it was gloomy, dark and raining so I had no chance to use a fast enough shutter to get a good flight shot. All these pictures were taken through my back window looking over my deck where I have set up some bird feeders.
