I visited my friend, Barbara, in North Carolina last week. We drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway for an entire day to see the fall colors.

We had a destination in mind but never made it that far because we kept stopping at overlooks and parks and eventually ran out of daylight.

We came to a fabulous place called Craggy Gardens where there was an entire mountainside below us covered in trees and bushes which had already lost their leaves. The effect was breathtaking. The mountainside was mostly silvery with splashes of gold and red. I really don't think my pictures do it justice.
|
The trees were mostly Mountain Ash and the bushes were some type of Rhododendron. The bushes are said to be covered in blooms in June and are beautiful to see then. I plan to try to get there next year at that time and see for myself.
