Life is beautiful!

Life is beautiful!
That's what the Thais told us in the beginning in Thailand. And it's true again! Yesterday was a wonderful day, things were finally settling down and everything turned out to be just perfect:
I finally know which courses I am taking and got rid of all the boring ones, I have found a nice choir and a fun sportsclub, I have become garden manager for our coop, went swimming in a pool just 5-10 minutes walk from here, and spend a wonderful evening with some of my housemates playing monopoly and frisbee in the hallway.....

For Berkeley the day was less perfect though. The university is cutting down an old oakgrove which treesitters had occupied for almost 2 years - right around the courner from our house. "A landmark in Berkeley's history". I never got to come close the treesitters because the police had set up fences around the oakgrove to prevent people from helping the treesitters.

Today we are having a "house outing" to Chinatown in San Francisco. I really shouldn't go and should study instead. Might be an intesive day tomorrow then. I am taking one graduate-course in NMR-spectroscopy. I love the subject and I really want to understand how it works - finally!! But it's quite advanced quantum physics and I don't really have the foundations... anyway, I'm determined to get through it... ;)
