They left me a reminder

The object of their concern.

Instructions, clear as a bell ...

They left a note. That I was to water the puffball mushroom they had found on the way home from kindergarten while they were at Grandma´s.
Clear and concise. The one word "svamp" (mushroom) put there as an afterthought, more to counter their own lack of faith in their artistic abilities than to impart information. Authors of manuals and user guides, take heed.

I consider the labelling a declaration of their lack of faith in their father's ability to understand, not theirs to draw. Readers of manuals and user guides, take heed.

As someone who routinely throws away manuals before reading them in an act of bitterly regretted intellectual arrogance at times, I would like to commission your kids to rewrite the next manual I'm tempted to throw away.
