The ice on the local lake has become thick enough for "normal" long distance skaters and ice fishermen to venture out on them. We're talking about 1-2 cm of ice and about a meter of open water around the shore so I gave it pass, preferring to jog around it. Some maniacs were out on the ice last weekend after only a couple of days of sub zero weather. The noise of the stressed ice was enough to turn my blood to ice.
