Rural Fashion Zone

2008.08.15
I used some effects to make the objects grow a bit. People think it’s a COLORFUL shot… Do you think LIVES of people who wear these clothes also COLORFUL? Any comment???

Friends:

Here’s my gorgeous SATURDAY comes.

I know my topic is going to make you flabbergasted once you see my photo. To those shopping-holic, I believe this piece of photo is going to give you a fresh inspiration in your mindset. To those who never get satisfied with high-end designer brands, how does my photo look? This is so-called Fashion Shop in PA-KAR-YI Village of TAVOY Township. People from this village buy clothes from these street vendors. You think these are new clothes? Not at all!! These all are second-hand clothes imported from THAILAND through border. There still are people who are delighted wearing such clothes. For grassroots, it is a big STRUGGLING even to buy these clothes. For these people, they don’t know GUCCI… CALVIN KLEIN is nothing… Whatever available at these vendors delivers the best value to them…

Feel the Rural Fashion Zone…

Thawdar can see the lives of people from our beloved country, maybe they will poor but we can see the peace on their faces. I like the previous one more, the live on the railway in black and white.

TIM927 Don´t know who can be considered less lucky,,if the ones not knowing what gucci represents or the ones believing that if you don´t wear gucci
style you are nothing,,

Ozz Thanks for sharing all these meaningful shots from the Motherland. You are so awesome and give attentions to the nature and grass root people back home. It reminds me of where I came from and which gives courage, strength and power for what needs to be done. Keep it up!

kretz a philosopher was saying that when you know a lot of things..you discover each day how less do you actually know..:)..so gucci doesn't make everyone happy...but a simple useful cloth does..
kretz · 2008-08-16: 15:45
ScubaLiz I think it's a lovely form of recycling! Who cares if the clothes are used? They are new to the person buying them, and apparently are the most affordable option. Seems like a good solution. Love that shot, so colorful!
ScubaLiz · 2008-08-16: 16:51
ofwordsandphotos ..or some of these shots are actually given in form of donations. but there are just some people who are greedy that they don't want these clothes to be donated---but sold.
They might not know CK, LV or D&G but living a simple uncomplicated life makes them at peace with the world.
ofwordsandphotos · 2008-08-16: 20:29
dilobear Inn!..i totally agree with u bro!
u caught them at t he right moment, as if in a pause mode!
think the brands do not matter ..so long nice to wear..and comfortable!..regardless of brand
dilobear · 2008-08-16: 23:49
Daryl Telling photo. Well done. These people are still able to express their judgment about what they are going to wear, and still find pleasure in finding the things that suit them best. They have self respect, dignity and pride in their appearance. They probably know too, that there are more lasting things in life than their clothes, that they are not to be measured by any sense of inferiority created by advertising in the developed western world - it loves to make people feel inferior unless they have brand x or y attached to their clothing. When the labels are bandied around on clothing - particularly on the outside, it tells me of a great hollowness in the society - it tells of a deep insecurity, I think. Yes, there is nothing wrong in wearing nice clothes: have self respect, and dignity, but be careful when you think it depends on how much you have spent on the items, or when someone else has dictated the fashion. Just my 2 cents worth there...

oakley Very nice Colorful!!

mowestlan Great shot. My opinion on clothing: if one covers one's naked body and does the best they can with what they have, mazeltov. It's really about WHO the person is--not what they're wearing.
mowestlan · 2008-08-17: 23:05
helgipjetur Brilliant photo... love the title and how you capture the colors perfectly for this situation...

tcalbaz A very cool domestic scene. Nice composition and expressions on their faces.
tcalbaz · 2008-08-21: 15:39
nesay07 Brother! The cloth we have does not define , nor change the quality of life we have. Live simple is the best.
