Glow With The Lights (Festival of Light)

2008.10.17
I passed by my grandma’s house and saw this bunch of candles being lighted in front of a house… I suddenly stopped my car, grabbed my camera and created this shot…

A tree on the Strand Road (Kanna Lann) decorated with electric bulks of assorted colors… Seems so gorgeous in my eyes…

These Chinese-style lanterns used to be a typical kind of decoration during the festival of light. Now, people rarely have such things in front of their households…

You might wanna know where I found these lanterns… Burmese friend would know it definitely. It’s nowhere but in front of famous, SHWE PU ZUN Confectionary, Yangon...

Dear Friends:

THADINGYUT, the festival of LIGHT, just passed by. I'm still in festive mood somehow. I've just finished my vegetation Sabbath which I have kept for the past 3 months. So once again, I am sharing some beautiful shots I grabbed on the full moon day of THADINGYUT, 14th OCT 2008. I was so happy to have these shots since people nowadays rarely celebrate the festival of light. When I was young, I used to see every household having colorful bulks lighten up or at least some candle lights (for those who could not afford to purchase expensive electrical bulks). Entering so called new era of technological advancement, people pay less attention to these traditional customs. New generation youngsters do not even know the reason of celebrating the festival of light. I spent 2 hours driving around the city to have these colorful lights. Dear friends, it's time to free your mind and let's glow with the light… Have a splendid weekend!!!

Credits: In dedication to my parents for giving LIGHTS throughout my life…
