Infinitude

2008.01.18

“All finite things reveal infinitude: The mountain with its singular bright shade Like the blue shine on freshly frozen snow, The after-light upon ice-burdened pines; Odor of basswood upon a mountain slope, A scene beloved of bees; Silence of water”

~ Theodore Roethke

DancingDolphin So I'm curious.... how far do you have to go to see these mountains? Right outside your door? I'm so envious.... the third shot is fabulous!

aknor Wow..I do love these blue sky shots, too. soldotnamanda and I were talking today about your shots and the blue sky - our skies seem to be more blue in the winter - we were wondering if it is the low angle light...any thoughts? Beautiful, wonderful shots - again :)

bamommy My favorite is #3. I love the way the clouds are "moving" across the mountain tops.

Madoc I really can't get enough of your wonderful landscape.
#1 is now in my favs, cause I really really love what brings the out of focus branches in the composition.

signsnwonders Gorgeous, the blue skies are beautiful but I really love the bits of colour given by the trees (willow?),which remain even when the blue skies disappear.Another wonderful set!

rolpa The infinite in the finite - one of the attractions of nature and landscape photography, I think. It is very apparent in your work here and in general. I love #1 for the way focus is used in the middle ground and its interaction with the rest of the scene and #3 for its clarity and beautiful light.

bettyluvsduncan Very beautiful! I enlarged the first one to see if that was a person snowshoeing. In doing so I saw how the snow was sparkling. I wish it looked like that here. Just wet and raining.
