Sudden Downpour (Wood Sandpiper)

2008.09.15

This season, I also saw wood sandpipers (Tringa glareola) in a flock. There were five that day. The heavy rain became an unexpected pour before long, which made the scenery hazy. Birds could not take any foods. What they could do was just standing still.

========
Japan islands are along far-east side of the Eurasian Continent. So we are under the route of seasonal migration of shore birds, many species of which we can meet in migration season mainly at tideland as well as paddy field.
