The Day of Snow
2009.03.03
Grey Heron on a Snow Day
I went to Toyooka in the snow with a professional nature photographer Shinichi Takeda. Paddy fields and riverbed were deeply covered with snow, so all released storks gathered at Sato Park. The bird in this pic is grey heron, Ardea cinerea. It was waiting for anything left over of foods fed for storks.

Dusky Thrush in Heavy Snow
Wet snow was piled up on branches of trees. There was only one place where the snow was fallen off. It was where a dusky thrush, Turdus naumanni, perched on.

EHIME
Mr. Takeda said to me, "There is a stork that doesn't have identification ring on the leg." I searched something about the stork later and found out it was a wild stork staying in Toyooka, named EHIME. The stork perched on a fence and preened its wings.

Snow Dancing in the Blue Sky
Late afternoon, the blue sky spread over, as if the weather until then was untruth. Mr. Takeda was clicking shutters making his camera towards the skiy. I wondered what he is doing, but then noticed his aim was snow dancing in the blue sky. A pro sees things with a different eye.
