Yu He Yuan. or the Summer Palace. It has its current name now as it served as a summer resort for Empress Dowager Cixi. She had apparently diverted 30 million taels of silver, said to be originally designated for the Chinese navy, into the reconstruction and enlargement of the Summer Palace.

Part of the Kunming Lake, a 2.2 square kilometer of man-make lake.

The ceiling of the Long Corridor, a covered walkway in the Summer Palace. The Long Corridor was first built in 1750, when the Qianlong Emperor commissioned work to convert the area into an imperial garden. The corridor was constructed so that the emperor's mother could enjoy a walk through the gardens protected from the elements.

One of the 14,000 painting along the Long Corridor. The painting generally depict episodes from Chinese classical literature, folk tales, both historical and legendary figures, and famous Chinese buildings and landscapes along with flowers, birds, fish, and insects.

The Longevity Hill that was built using the soil excavated from the Kunming Lake.

The Marble Boat (which is actually a lakeside pavilion).
