Day 5: New York

2008.06.20
I miss the sight of such buildings. They don't seem to have them in Dallas, or at least at where I stay.

A bug that fell onto my book while I was reading in Central Park. I was so glad that the NY weather was wonderful when I visited. Certainly a nice change from the scorching sun in Dallas.

I was really looking forward to eating hotdogs at Gray's Papaya after watching Matthew Perry chomping them down in the movie "Fools Rush In" days before leaving for NY. Unfortunately, it was such a letdown. I guess hotdog is just hotdog.

The Superheroes exhibition was pretty good. No photos of the exhibition as photography was not allowed.

Besides the "Superheroes", another exhibition that I enjoyed was the "Jeff Koons on the Roof". Above is a photo of the Balloon Dog (yellow) and Sacred Heart (red/gold).

The music started at around 8pm and concluded with encores which included the singing of Grenada, twice. While the main session was good, the encores were even better. The husband and wife operatic team Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna were awesome performers and they were just so cute on stage together. Even the orchestra director Iom Martin was pretty entertaining, especially when he playfully jumped in and sang a few phrases with Gheorghiu and Alagna.
