Roadtrip: Vegas to San Francisco
2008.07.14
Breakfast at Bouchon, which is part of the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group. I guess since I would be too broke for French Laundry anytime soon, eating at Bouchon is a good substitute ;)

The only clear food photo I managed to take. This was Peishan's favorite dish - steak and mushroom omelette. The mushroom (shitake, I think) was really yummy. I really liked the French toast, which was more like bread pudding with layers of brioche, custard and apples with maple syrup. Alas, the photo turned out rather blur.

We drove for nearly 3 hours before stopping for lunch just because we really wanted to eat at In-N-Out. I think this was my first time at In-N-Out, and I did quite enjoy the burger and shake (Neopolitan - chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla :D). While Peishan really liked the animal-style fries, I still prefer my soggy McDonald's ones.
Peishan totally over-ordered by getting two orders of everything. So, this meal ended up to be both our lunch and dinner as we then drove straight to San Francisco without pausing for any food breaks (quite a rarity on this trip :P).

The beautiful sunset on our way to San Francisco. We had intended to camp by the beach at Santa Barbara or San Luis Obispo, but unfortunately it was pretty dark by the time we arrived at those places. Not wanting to start pitching tent in darkness, we then proceeded to drive on to San Francsico. By the end of the 11-hour drive, we were utterly bushed and Peishan even beat a red light. I am glad that we did eventually make it to Bruce's house in San Francisco without any accidents or tickets. And that marked the last of our long drives for the trip. Wheee ;)
