CocoBella - Rescued :)

Meet CocoBella. We call her Coco for short. Coco is a rescue dog. She became ours this last January (2019) after spending about 8 weeks with a rescue foster Mom. According to the rescue folks, Coco, who is probably nearing 3 years old, was born out in the desert west of Tucson, AZ. How she survived out there for about one and half years we'll never know. She had a litter during that time and she would also show up at a lady's home who lived off the grid in that area. The lady left food and water for her and interestingly, after Coco had her pups, she brought them to the lady, presumably not able to care for them herself. In any case, the lady contacted the rescue organization and they picked up Coco. There's more to the story, like how she was saved from being euthanized. But some photos are needed at this point....I'll post more photos from time to time. Coco is now part of our family. We celebrated our 8 months together last week.

So, Coco is a beauty and very calm, still a bit wary because of her experiences, but a terrific family member. More Coco later :)

I'm looking forward to see and read more about Coco. We have a rescue dog too. Last year (03.11.2019) we adopted Felix, who was confiscated by the police, because he was going to die of thirst in the middle of Vienna! Beloved family member since. heart

Yes she does have a rather sad look, but she has become more trusting and we are able to "love" on her a bit now.  The rescue folks say it may take a year or more before she really settles in.

I got goosebumps while reading your post and looking at the first photo, it's heartbraking. The photos #2 + #3 are really surprising.
She seems to be another dog, not recognizable any more. So good, this lady contacted the rescue organization. And so good, that she is part of your family now!! Thanks !

Heike, I still get a lump in my throat when I look at the first picture.  Knowing Coco now and what a great family member she has become, I can't imagine what she went through in her young life.  How in the world did she survive out in the desert ? We have Coyotes, Mountain Lions, Bobcats, Rattlesnakes,,,not to mention the extreme heat and the monsoon rains and lightening storms, etc.  Amazing that she is with us ! And those animal rescue groups are heaven sent..what a wonderful thing they do.
