Victoria, B.C., Canada - Part 1

The last port-of-call for an Alaska cruise was the city of Victoria BC at the southern tip of the large Vancouver Island off the west coast of Canada. We had several hours to prowl around before re-boarding the ship for the final leg of the cruise. We were very impressed with Victoria and what a nice clean and friendly place it was. Not to mention it's beautiful gardens and neighborhoods and shoreline. It's known as The City of Gardens. So we resolved to return and spend more time there, which we did about a year later. Here is the first set of photos...

Beautiful set! The colors in #1 are so vibrant! I visited Victoria a few years back and it was such a cool place. Loved all the water taxis and harbor seals!

Thanks and yes, we really enjoyed our time there. We were impressed at how friendly the locals were,,we were even invited to a beach party by a group of college kids ! and we're old enough to be their grandparentssmileThey had a curious item used for a drinking game...a ski with holes along its length into which are placed shot glasses. A line of three or four drinkers drink from the shot glasses at the same time as the ski is tilted ! I've since learned it is called a "shot ski".  Maybe we should have gone to the party...:)

Now that is something else about the shot ski! grinning I've never heard of anything like it, and I've lived in a ski town. I agree though, the locals definitely add to the charm there!

Beautiful photos. It is indeed a beautiful city. Too bad you didn't have more time there. You'll have to return sometime and go to the Butchart Gardens.

Funny you should mention that...grinning we did in fact go to Butchart and I plan to show some photos from there in Part 2 .  It is an amazing place, almost overwhelming. Yes we really liked Victoria and may very well return.
