I had plans for a great outdoor set today, but the weather refused to cooperate. Too much wind and rain, but alas…

With the change of plans came a blank as far as photography goes-I'd been planning todays shoot for a while so when it all fell through I was finding it hard to move past plan A.

Reluctantly, I decided to put my camera aside for a few hours and work on getting the Christmas tree along with all the glam and glitter taken down and put away. I set right to work removing and packing ornaments and lights by the hundreds-every thing went on a certain way and so it comes off the same: meticulously.

For the last three years, this little dreidel music box has been a fixture on the tree and is always displayed in a spot of prominence. When I removed the wires holding it in the tree today it started chiming: I have a little dreidel, I made it out of clay, and when it's dry and ready then dreidel I shall play!

Immediately I switched into photography mode. I took the music box, made a few notes and said to myself, later… and went back to work. I had to do the right thing, right?

Finally, after all the decorations were stowed away for another year, I slipped away to my little corner of the house dedicated to light and shadow. The place where I attempt to visually interpret life. I brought the music box and played it's song and snapped a few shots.

Looking back, I'm glad the weather didn't cooperate!

Its interesting that you keep a dreidel on a Christmas tree. However, that the shot is fantastic!

Charming shot and that's what I like about PB- it's educational as I'd never heard of a dreidel.

All things happen for a reason...so there you go, you wouldn't have taken this lovely photo if you've been outside : ) I like how you put it at the center and the golden ornaments surrounding it...
