A Little More Than A Bug

For the first time in a long time I found myself photographing scenes from the corner of Kentucky & Cumberland. I must admit to having grown weary of that corner as of late, in fact I probably spend most of my time loathing it. But today was different. Today, instead of going out and seeing on the horizon the end of many good things, I saw a katydid. She, he, it…I'm going to go with it as I didn't bother to inquire about gender specifics, was perched upon a soda machine outside the corner store. It was just there, looking around and content with the world; that insect was, for me at least, the calm in a very chaotic place. So I stood there and watched. No, I stood there and appreciated the creature, and what it meant to me. It seems that this intensely beautiful creature was saying embrace today kid~don't worry about tomorrow until tomorrow is today. And as far as worrying about the end of good things: forget it…The end isn't nearly as important as today, as the right here right now. Just be.

So I did…so I am…so it is…There is so much to be learned from the small moments in life! And, of course, from katydids.

Very cute and very clever little katydid! Look at all it taught you. Mine told me to "Let Go and Let God." (Excellent shots and story)
