"While hiking in Alberta I had a moment where I realized I am not waking up at 4 AM and doing this for FB likes or 500px ego boosts. Part of me really wanted to see the world and I got a lot of satisfaction telling my stories to others but there was a lack of a place to create a story.
I had started uploading my photos to facebook and 500px but there was no real engagement.
It was all about follow backs or like backs. In the case of facebook, engagement meant very little because my friends didn't have enough knowledge to give constructive criticism or most didn't care much what I was doing.
I simply didn't want my photos hidden behind facebook wall or forgotten in 500px.
Then, I started my own personal blog but soon realize that creating an audience for a blog is next to impossible." --Ram Ya
