Theme submission: Lassonde School of Engineering - York University

by Ram Ya August. 01, 2016 3552 views

This April, York University got a new building for their Engineering facility. It looks very modern and unique in it's architectural style. Since this area is situated in a flat land, sunset really illuminated this building to a golden color. Since this week's theme is Black and White, I am only sharing the Monochrome shots I took of the building.

It was mentioned that alumnus Douglas Bergeron and his wife Sandra donated 10 million dollars and the province had donated about 60 million for the building. I think it is a great idea that they are building such advanced facilities away from the core of the city.

Love the composition in #2. The contrast with the sky is amazing.

Of course ! For 10 + 60 million dollars you can hope more than a common little chapel lost somewhere in Brittanny coast of Channel ... :))
A nice serie and my preference goes for the 1st photo.

An impressive building, and certainly unique! At 70-some-million, I hope it will serve it's students well for many years to come.
I have favored the 2nd - it looks like a kite against the sky.

Thanks, Leslie. Yes, I think York university is trying to attract more and more Engineering student. They are not popular for this subject field yet.

Well, this should attract them! My youngest will continue her studies at the University of Buffalo this fall. The campus is massive, and a nice mix of old & new. That seems to be the trend...

In the first one I love all the variety of patterns, and in the 2nd one the contrast of nature and a man-made building
