It's been a few weeks since we posted a platform update. Mainly because we were working on official blog and forum. Today we are releasing a new platform update with the following fixes and features.
1. Dedicated place for the Weekly Theme
Members have told us that it is hard to find the weekly theme announcement. You have also told us that it is hard to browse fellow member entries to the theme. We have now created a new tab in the Browse Page called "Weekly Theme". This tab will be updated every week to show the current weekly theme announcement post as well as member entries for the current theme.
2. Using Amazon Cloudfront to serve images
We are constantly trying to improve the page load time of the site for a better user experience. All of the user images will now be served from Amazon CloudFront. This is a CDN service which serves images from few locations in the world. Since it will automatically serve images from a location close to you, they will load faster. We also plan to improve the mechanics behind serving a small (blurred) image first. This will happen when we do our next design overhaul.
3. Future design update
Photoblog has come a long way since relaunching in July. We have constantly worked on fixing bugs and adding new features to the Minimum viable Product (MVP) we relaunched with. However, to address deep User Experience (UX) issues, we needed to come up with a new design. Here is a snapshot of what we are cooking! If you are interested in reviewing this design further, please request an invitation to our design collaboration tool by leaving a comment below.
We are actively developing PhotoBlog so your suggestions are most welcome. Please do comment below if you would like to shape the future of PhotoBlog.
