A Walk Near Home

It was a hot sunny afternoon so I went for a walk.

This broom plant is usually found in gardens, but this one was growing in a hedge.

Dandelions have now reached the seed stage. When I was a child we called these "dandelion clocks". We held them up and blew away the seeds. If it took two puffs then the time was said to be two o'clock etc.
It wasn't very accurate!!

It was odd to find this one clover flower growing alone.

I largely failed when I tried to photograh buttercups - the colour looked wrong and the leaves appeared to reflect the light. I therefore tried something different. I believe this effect is called "floating colours".

Plantain is widespread and common but it is not very pretty. I liked this picture, however, because of the blurred buttercups in the background.

I tried a different approach to capture these pretty little flowers. They are forget-me-nots.

This couple were enjoying a trip on the Leeds to Liverpool canal. This waterway is wider than most so larger barges could be employed to transport coal. It looks like a river for much of its course and is very photogenic.
