A Short Stay in Llandudno

by Adrian Morris August. 10, 2021 215 views

We had not had a holiday for a long, long time so we decided to have a three day break in Lladudno - a lovely, Welsh seaside resort with a population of about 20,000 people. It lies on the Creuddyn peninsula in the north of the country.

At each end of Llandudno Bay there are large, spectacular limestone outcrops . This one to the north is named "The Great Orme".

This is the "Little Orme".

It is said that Lewis Carroll was inspired to write Alice in Wonderland while he was staying in the resort. As a result there are several statues in the town dedicated to book. This is a representation of the Mad Hatter.

This is a sad memorial dedicated to a tragic incident in the town in 1992.

The Welsh dragon is a heraldic symbol on the Welsh flag.

Of course there are many Welsh speakers who live in Wales, so most information signs are in both Welsh and English.

Very very nice captures Adrian. Looks like a really nice area for some rest and relaxation. If you read Gethin's new post Flather's Trade Recipe, you will also learn as to how Lewis Carroll came about to writing Alice in Wonderland  😁. Thanks for sharing such beautiful photos.

Thanks Camellia, for your kind comments. Llandudno is a great place to visit. It's about 1 hour 40 minutes drive from where we live. My wife stays there most years with a group from her church.
I have seen Gethin's post - very interesting.
By the way, for some time now I have had difficulty accessing your blog. The link just didn't seem to work. However, all now seems well so I will soon catch up with all the pages I have missed from your excellent blog.

Thank you Adrian. Weird things happen on Pb, for unknown reasons, but it is still the best place to "photo-blog" smile
