Vietnam - Day 1(Hanoi)

Since I'm a teacher I get this wonderful time off called "Summer Vacation". However, if you have seen my daiy life post, you know that my summer vacation is only a week long. My friend and I dceided to take advantage of our time off and head to Vietnam for 5 days.

I'm not really sure what I expected my trip to be like, but it quickly became a trip for eating. It started our first day there. For dinner we met a lovely, local guide named Kay, who took us on a 3 hour walking food tour! We learned of all the best food spots in the old quarter of Hanoi. This post is dedicated exclusivly to that tour.

Let's go~

*WARNING FOOD PORN AHEAD*

I don't reccommend you keep viewing unless you have already eaten, or you may find yourself buying a ticket to Vietnam.

Stop 1: Spring rolls, Some sort of meat pillow, and shrimp cakes

Stop 2: Honestly I'm not sure what this was, but it was soooo good

Stop 3: Vietnamese Bread

*Thanks Chris for being a wonderful model

When something has a secret sauce that the staff WILL NOT tell you what's in it, you know it tastes amazing.

Stop 4: Pho, Pho, and more Pho

If this wasn't our 4th stop, I would've sat there eating these two dishes all night! Fun Fact: The green dish was one that Obama tried on his trip to Vietnam.

Stop 5: Egg Coffee

It might sound disgusting, but it was THE BEST cup of coffee I have ever had! You can't taste the egg, it just gives the coffee a creamy/sweet taste. We were so caught up in how delicious it all was, Chris and I forgot our picture as being taken!

I hope you enjoyed the highlights of Kay's food tour, I know we sure did! I'm still working on the rest of my tip photos, but I will link them here as I get them up!

Stay tuned for Ha Long Bay, Caves, More food, a cooking class, and sightseeing!
