Vietnam - Day 4

by Alexis Burkland August. 13, 2018 787 views

For our last full day in Vietnam, Chris and I decided to take a cooking class in the morning. Then we visited the Temple of Literature in the afternoon.

I really enjoyed the cooking class. While I'm not a cook, and I don't normally enjoy cooking, it was such a fun experience. The class is through a company called 'Travel Awesome Vietnam'. Our amazing chef/guide, Anna, picked us up early in the morning and took us back to her house just outside the city.

Her family's house is located on the banks of the river, with an outdoor patio and kitchen. Perfect for a small group cooking class! We sat at the table learning a little Vietnamese so we could go to the local market and get our ingredients.

After we got back from the market, the lovely Anna showed us how to make flower garnishes, and 3 different Vietnamese dishes. We made a braised pork with caramel sauce, a beef with rice noodle dish, and stir fry.

And of course we finished it off with fruit for dessert.

We had a great group. I can't thank Anna enough for such a wonderful experience!

I had such a great time with this class. I'll make two other posts about this day. One just for the local market, and the other for the Temple of literature.

If you havn't see the rest of my time in Vietnam check it out now: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3
