Hello, and welcome to the first of what I hope will be many blog posts here!
At the start of this year, I saw a number of people set themselves a 365-challenge: to take and share a photo every day of the year. It inspired me to find a similar way to challenge myself.
Realistically, I know that I would be unable to commit to a daily photo - and even committing to one a week would risk turning something I find pleasurable into a chore.
So, instead, my goal is to take 52 photographs through the course of the year that I am proud of - or at least moderately pleased with - and to spend time writing a blog-post about each BUT not to post them until next year ...
That last part is the real challenge for someone as impulsive as me! The hope is that it forces me to slow down, consider what I like about an image over time rather than being swayed by the emotion on the day, and think about what lessons I can take away from it for improving next time.
Also, by saving the posts until 2022, I'll have a ready-made set of once-a-week posts. Certainly the main audience for this is myself - but if anyone else did want to watch my progress, this would provide a smoother cadence than presently where images will come in bursts when I've managed to go somewhere exciting but silence in between.
Until this is ready, I have gone through my collection of images taken to date and selected some of my favourites. I hope to write a post once-a-week through this year where I select a few to talk about; so watch this space!
