O.K. I'm finally traveling again! It's been awhile… Well, I suppose not that long actually. My travel addiction must be getting worst…

Yesterday I arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico and waited to catch my flight to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. I don't know what I had expected. I didn't expect a massive jet but I certainly didn't expect to be in an 8 seater plane with only two other passengers, myself, and the pilot. Still, I'm always up for an adventure and it proved to be an amazing experience. We followed the coastline of Puerto Rico to the west, never losing site of the island below. It only took about 30 minutes and we landed (with a jolt) in Mayaguez. I got out of the plane and immediately noticed one thing: it smelled like the rainforest. I immediately felt like I was back in El Yunque, Puerto Rico's national forest and the only rainforest within U.S. jurisdiction. It is humid here but to say it is beautiful can't do it justice. Mar, my new couchsurfing friend and roommate, picked me up from the airport. We drove through the forest to get to the house which sits up in the mountains, about 10 minutes from downtown Mayaguez. The house is beautiful in itself but the location is what makes it breathtaking. From the back deck you can see the forest stretching as far as your eye can see and from my bedroom window you can see the Carribbean ocean in the distance. I think I'm going to like it here!
