The old site of RAF Davidstow is one of North Cornwall's hidden pieces of history. This site is of most note due to it's empty shell of a control tower which stands with a haunting glare over the moors.
Littered amongst the site are skeleton like structures which have been beaten and ravaged by howling Cornish winds but they still stand firm like the many brave pilots who flew from here
Like most of the abandoned and derelict places I visit there is a sense of sadness in the air to see such an amazing site go to waste. It stands to show that everything has it's time and it's place.
RAF Davidstow was certainly one of the more eerie locations I have visited and to this day continues to fascinate me. I always enjoy standing in the control tower and imagining what it would have looked like as a fully operational air base and for that purpose, I am truly glad it still stands.
If you would like more info on RAF Davidstow there is a great little museum close by which details it's history in great depth! Thank you for reading!
