Living in Gloucestershire definitely has it's perks when Wales is right on your doorstep. Having worked in Wales when I was younger I have a real love for South Wales and everything it has to offer from sprawling valleys, mountains and beautiful vistas.

We started the day off with a trip to Talybont Reservoir which is the largest still water reservoir within the Brecon Beacons at 318 acres. The dam was constructed in 1931 and in 1939 started to supply Newport with water. In 2019 the Dam underwent modernisation and also supplies the small town of Talybont-on-Usk with electricity!

Snapped using my 70mm-210mm Tamron Lens! So hard to keep hands steady, tripod would've been smart!!
Moving uphill from the Dam there are lots of little picnic areas where you can stop off and take in the views.

The Brecon Beacons are hugely popular with Bikers! We met a lovely couple on holiday who asked me to take some pictures for them! Being a rider myself I was more than happy to Oblige!
After visiting the reservoir we headed further up into the valley to the Upper Neuadd Reservoir which I will be covering in a later blog!
If you'd like to read some more history of the Talybont Dam you can do so here.... https://talybontenergy.co.uk/turbine/about-the-turbine/
