Silent Reading

I don't know if anyone else had “Silent Reading” periods in high school. But all I ever remember of these is the mayhem that ensued.

One time, silent reading happened to be during my art class period. The teacher stepped out for a few minutes and by the time he came back, clay was being thrown by the students at each other, on the ceiling and out the windows. Needless to say, we ended up silent reading for the entire period and the one that followed.

That's a random aside for this image…I happened to spot him reading quietly in a corner, while off to the right, out of the frame, a jazz concert was happening. I love how he's oblivious to the noise & the crowd that surrounded him, while clearly enjoying his book.

It's really lovely to see someone enjoy a quiet moment so thoroughly.
