Sooooo…I finally discovered the virtues of a wonderful piece of equipment known as the tripod. I resisted for so long mostly b/c I hate having stuff that I don't use (too much of a minimalist), cost & just outright snootiness b/c I can take most shots handheld or being uber creative with finding supports.
Well, I had to get a tripod for something I'm working on. It was mighty interesting shopping for this. Someone tried to sell me a $900 Gitzo based solely on the type of cameras & lens combos that I would be using…super light, super cool and super out of my budget. Let's put it this way, if I had that much extra moohlah laying around, I'd go traveling! Plus, I could never justify spending so much on something that would get minimal use. So I ended up with a Manfrotto (owned by the same company as Gitzo!) & the whole point of my rambling is that I took it out for a spin.
Oh my. Very pleased! So I offer you some evening photos of the Port of Vancouver [en.wikipedia.org] that I've had in the back of my mind for some time…enjoy;0)

you are catching some enormous light theatre in your shots... brilliant. great words, too. :-)
