Majestic or should I say Kempegowda Bus Stand

For the most part of my life I have lived in Bengaluru, so naturally I have been a witness to its transformation from green to grey.

The period between 1991 till the present day has been my exposure to the city, with patches of long absence due of my travels. The city has grown exponentially, from breaking out of a comfortable cocoon to floating like a butterfly on high energy. This transformation is pivotal as various dynamics of the city has been kick started from its sleeping mode.

South-West section of the city was where I was really active around. Most of the people from this section of the city considered Majestic as the center of the city, as it conveniently acted as an exchange point for city transit. The city has grown beyond its satellite areas and as a result there is a dilution of transit concentration here with numerous small stations being more active throughout the city.

The area on which the bus station is constructed used to be a tank bed called as the Dharmambudhi lake, which unfortunately dried up in the early 20th century.

Majestic is actually a very well planned semi circular design bus station built in 1980s, enabling seamless traffic for the buses and easy access to the terminals reaching various parts of the city

Majestic was renamed officially as Kempegowda bus stand, as the station was only called so in reference to a famous cinema theater that existed in the same locality.

The whole area of Majestic was and is still to a large extent a go-through place as one side of it (BMTC) offered inter city transit buses and the other (KSRTC) offered inter and intra state transit buses.

KSRTC as seen from Majestic, offers buses within the Karnataka state and also to cities from other states.

The Bengaluru city railway station is also located adjacent to it, and now even the Namma Metro central station has also been established, reinforcing the place as a transit hub.

Most part of the station has not changed much and remains as a witness to the nostalgia.

The city is experiencing a shift in its pace now more than ever and in the process has been victim to a lot of pressing issues like traffic, garbage disposal, construction quality degrading due to urgency of accommodations, etc,.

Whether you are a localite or an immigrant, you are a Bangalorean, only with cooperation and concern can we keep the city up to the standards that even an American president envied.

That was my photo experience of Majestic, hope you liked it. thank you for your time and hope to take you on another photo journey soon. Come back to enjoy more such experiences : )
