This summer I get the chance to spend some time in the Detroit area. Hannah is placed at a church in one of the suburbs and I have taken a week off to go visit her.
The trip started super early. Left my house about 3:30 am to drive through dense fog to make it to the airport. We then sat on the plane for over an hour while they waited for maintenance to clear the plane. Finally made it to Detroit around noon and the adventure could start.
First task was to find a place to eat. Downtown Birmingham has a lot of great places to shop, explore, and eat. We house a place that serves everything green in a bowl, juice, or smoothie. After a long morning of traveling, it was nice not to eat something greasy, but actually healthy.
We walked around downtown a bit more. Hannah is love with a store that only sells succulents. Wish I could find a place like this in South Dakota. Think I could figure out how to get one of these beauties home?
Then off to the mall to get some new Build a Bears. We decided to dig through the clearance bin to find our new friends. The cashier even mentioned that you can get a Pawsport and get a stamp at each location you visit. (Wish I would have know that 10 years ago when I started this tradition.)
Grocery shopping, napping, popcorn, ice cream and The Lego Movie: Part 2 finished out the night. Day 2 brings more adventures and helping with vacation bible school.
