A Poet's Blues
by Dorothy Anderson

At times,
I get a creative tornado
in my head,
as I am going along
in my daily life
And I can't wait to go home
to sit in front of my computer
to write all my poetic thoughts down

I'm convinced they are masterpieces,
that people will be blown away
by my work

All is silent on the response button

And suddenly I think
I am not that talented
That my work really wasn't
so great to begin with

This must be what all
artists go through…
painters, authors, sculptors,
screenwriters, playwrights,
songwriters and musicians
Doubting themselves
when art lies in the eye
of the beholder

Its all part of the subjective
nature of art

ah, this post speaks volumes to me! "At times,I get a creative tornado
in my head..." The painting is a story of artistic journey, waves of darkness, then stillness, then light brilliant inspiration. Did you paint this?

Wonderful poem. I know this feeling too and so, I never share any of my poetry.
I like this painting even better than the one yesterday.

J'aime "l'art est dans le regard du spectateur". Le "blues" et la force du créateur sont dans le doute.
      Bien vu et superbe

If the painter of this beautiful piece feels that way,, you may want to tell him or her... "It's a gorgeous painting!!!!" I understand the words in this poem so well.. I have written poetry for years. Recognize the creative tornado (cool way of putting it) so well, and then suddenly doubting the existence of any talent.. Oh well,, maybe the tornado will return some day ;)
