Only one left standing
by Faith Melton

My friends,
They’re lifeless stubs,
Jutting from the ground
I can’t recall how they looked
How they sounded
As the breeze
Touched their long arms
Making them rustle and creak
I stand alone
In an area of vast emptiness
My friends, murdered before me
Chopped, slugged, and pulled down
And I am Regretfully
The only one left standing

Still standing, despite all circumstances.. Strenght combined with loneliness, for being the only one left standing. Great post!!

powerful words for such a moving photo....the red, so symbolic of strength...the white, symbolic of courage....well...that is what I see :)))
