♫♫ Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument ♫♫

The Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument is a monument build in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and ongoing friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus mountains. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history.

A great group shot in #10, Antonio, especially considering the wonderful background!
From this series, I like #1 the most, the composition is excellent, and the monochrome treatment gives it a very stately mood.

Stunning pictures of a breathtaking landscape. I like them a lot!

A interesting artwork in the middle of nowhere in a typical style with more or less very, very historical battle scenes and suspicious looking monarchs (!). A disturbing Monument "... friendship ... scenes ... history ...“  with two ramshackle huts as the summary?! In which direction is this downsized battletower open and in which direction is it - at the moment - an unarmed bastion for cannons? I think it is an obvious statement - "... Georgian Military Highway ..." - not about friendship but a "Mistrust Monument".

As always you are totally right. The so called friendship between Georgia-Russia is a one way threat coming from the bigger bear from the other side of the border. When I was there I saw how eager they were to join EU but to no avail because Russia doesn't allow it.

Of course ...
But I have never seen something more obvious "piss off" except for the Soviet War Memorial in Vienna. The the fountain (Hochstrahlbrunnen https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hochstrahlbrunnen) in front of the Memorial covers the Russian soldier behind the fountain up to invisibility. smile
