The Thinker

William Carlos Williams, 1883 - 1963

My wife’s new pink slippers
have gay pom-poms.
There is not a spot or a stain
on their satin toes or their sides.
All night they lie together
under her bed’s edge.
Shivering I catch sight of them
and smile, in the morning.
Later I watch them
descending the stair,
hurrying through the doors
and round the table,
moving stiffly
with a shake of their gay pom-poms!
And I talk to them
in my secret mind
out of pure happiness.

Really #4 are steps... I thought they were columns and you had just rotated the picture for artistic reason. Really strange but definitely eye catching.

Suffer no thought.

Joy is a moral obligation;
A path to self-compassion
that dissolves frustrations,
and grieving temptations.

Beauty is life’s salutation;
A path to self-preservation
that turns men into giants,
of divine appreciation.

Peace is true emancipation;
A path to self-realization
that binds companions,
without reservations.

Pillars of illumination;
A path to self-justification
cloaked in consumerism,
a moment’s entertainment.

Love is ever awakened;
Revealing unseen guardians
leading to a new celebration,
a new human civilization.

Joy is liberalization.

#1..wonderful perspective in this....so well framed....love all the shades & textures on the stone work, reflections in the windows, symmetry of the whole image, contrast of colors of the statue & background and mood.
#3 I'm always keen on corridors! Nice deep focus, shadows, mono treatment & clarity Love the lady & her pup, the group of folks down the corridor.
#4 you know I love a quirky perspective! (grin)
#5 #6 commerce, commerce.......everywhere.......makes the world go round, especially when fueled with lots of coffee...right???
#7 cool perspective, colors, lights and clarity!
#8 wow! love the rows of bright lights and the interesting lighting on the crowd below!
These are wonderful, Amigo!
Pensive song to go along with Rodin's masterpiece and the thoughtful Williams verse.
Outstanding post!!!

I wish my English was good enough to be able to answer you as you deserve. I only use short sentences and so on but I wish to say your comments are always so welcome and so motivating my friend.

Your command of the English language is remarkable; certainly, miles beyond the feeble attempts of my Googlized Portuguese.....that's for sure!!!! (((GRIN/GRIMACE))) A sentence length is not as important as the content therein...........no????? (Haiku comes to mind, as being the quintessence of meaning over verbosity...no???) Anything I can do to encourage more postings from You, is a worthy task.......

I'm not freezing. In this time of year we only get a few days in the 80's F, but usually around 65F (very pleasant) I don't even own a fan or air conditioner! We don't get too cold in the Winter either. Very few days below freezing, because the water temperature of the ocean is 50-55F year round, so it moderates the air temps!

Come on over any time! I have an extra bedroom & bath!

#5 I find this rather neat way to have advertising on the side of a building without having a big ugly billboard. I love the shot with the pillars .
