♫♫ Sørvágsvatn Lake and Bøsdalafossur Waterfall in the Faroe Islands ♫♫

At 3.4 square kilometres, Lake Sørvágsvatn/Leitisvatn (name is debatable, depending on who you ask) is the largest lake in the Faroe Islands. The lake has also been dubbed “the lake over the ocean” as the view from a particular angle functions as an optical illusion, appearing to look as though the lake is hovering directly above the ocean. At the end of the lake is the impressive Bøsdalafossur waterfall.

Absolutely incredible!
#1 - coming and going - all in one picture!
#2 - perspective - it's like the sea want to take you away!
#7 - light, so much golden light!
I try to take a breath ...

#1 - interesting interpretation of this picture - I like it
#2 - I've placed the camera on the sand and used a long exposure to take this one
#7 - not a very usual sight here smile
Thank you dear friend - now I will only post pictures in about two and a half week time (another travel) smile

I especially like the perspective in #2 there's something special about the way the water sits/waves. I don't know if I have asked this before, if I have I apologize, but how long were you guys traveling for and how did you decide on the location?

That one was a long exposure with the camera supported on the sand. We travelled for a week only. This one was a quick decision because my mother-in-law died (she was living with us) and my wife was very sad, so we decided to do this trip to help her (and me) with the grief. We chose a place in Europe, closer to home because we had little time to do it (jobs and so on), and Faroe was a place already in our thoughts.

I am sorry about the passing of your mother in law but obviously this was a well planned trip, quick or not. So many nice photos :)

When you get used to seeing posts from people you follow on a daily basis and then suddenly the posts stop...it makes you wonder why.  Hope all's well with you and Teresa smile
