♫♫ Lonely Elephant ♫♫

The Elephant - Poem by Hilaire Belloc

When people call this beast to mind,
They marvel more and more
At such a little tail behind,
So large a trunk before.

#2 - the combination of an elephant besides the road with the man on the bike, who seems to be unaware of big grey giant in front of him, is so funny!

Thank you, Angil and Theresa.

Loneliness is far
from an elephant's solitary path
for it embraces silence,
the gift that unveils at its own time and pace,
exclusively for one and all who is determined
to live in faith every moment in time,
with the Grace of faith, hope, and love palm tree

How surreal! Seems like a "wildlife crossing" sign has a completely different meaning in Sri Lanka! smile

No doubt about it Bethany. We also saw big lizards crossing the road, some snakes and so on smile

Wow what a great experience. #2 I think I would be giving the elephant more room if I was the chap on the bike but then again I would probably not be riding but shooting several frames and praying I did not piss it off.

It was a peaceful elephant that just wanted to cross the road. Here, they have electric fences to prevent the elephants to go to the road, but they are able to bypass them and no one knows how.

Love the poem but even more love #2, biker seems oblivious to the elephants presence while the rest are causing a traffic jam. smile

Exactly smile He must be very short-sighted

I guess an elephant traffic jam is a very real possibility there. Nice captures.

WOW! What a thrill to see such a magnificent creature, wild & free! I  hope there will always be enough room & resource for this to continue...Love the haunting music & cute verse that accompanies these! I wonder what the elephant thinks about bicycles???

I think she just wanted to cross the road. Sometimes they approach cars to eat fruit that people offers to them.
